It's true that there was never an event in the SP equivalent to the Declaration of Sergius of 1927, when various bishops officially recognized the atheist authorities, falling under the anathema against Communism and Communist collaborators that the Russian Church declared in 1918. The fall of the Serbian Church therefore cannot be so exactly dated, but I remember at least Vladimir Moss making the case that it occurred in 1965, when Patriarch German was uncanonically imposed on the Church by the authorities (I think there may have been no opposing candidates or some such irregularity), and then he took the SP into the World Council of Churches, which was already a notoriously heretical organization (although this was technically before the 1983 anathema against ecumenism).
But your insistence that Bishop Artemije is a True Orthodox bishop simply is not true. His situation is rather similar to the situation of the Jerusalem Patriarchate, which for many years opposed ecumenism and kept out of the WCC, but which remained in communion with World Orthodoxy, just as Bp Artemije has done. It was never possible to recognize Jerusalem as True Orthodox for this reason, that they were only half-hearted in their rejection of ecumenism.[/quote]
Jgress,
Officially the SP never entered in the WCC-Demons council. By this I mean that there was never an official Synodal vote, they entered thru the back door unofficially. ArchBishop Artemije has led the fight in Serbia against Ecumenism/and Wcc-demons council since He was consecrated a Bishop in 1991. Thru His efforts the Serbian Patriarchate made a declaration that at the official Pan-Orthodox council they will present their case for all Orthodox to unilaterally remove themselves from the wcc-demons council. ( These documents can be found on a web-site run by a Brother called Patrick Barnes, I belive).
Your comparison with Patriarch Ireneos of Jerusalem is pretty close; the Patriarch never also con celebrated with any heretics, and He would never go to any receptions or the like sponsored by the RCC in Jerusalem when invited, by stating that they are Heretics and He does not deem it right to eat and drink with them. Both were confessors to their flocks in war torn political melting pots and they passed thru unscathed.
As for mr. VM from Britain I would take whatever He writes and says with a grain of salt. Not to charecter assassinate anyone but Who has done more harm for TOC unity for English speaking belivers than this fellow. Again where does ROCOR then fall into all this???
Almost everyone with the exception of the Hellenic-Byzantium Matthewite Church derives their orders from ROCOR.
At this moment in time neither ArchBishop Artemije nor Patriarch Ireneos are with anyone affiliated with ecumenism or demons council, that is a fact. The Patriarch I belive is in communion with the SIR as far as I think I know.
The best bet is to speak to Your Bishops about this situation; they can best explain the history of our Church and Her persecution the last 2000 years. Ask them what they think and feel about these 2 brave Men,who have fought for their respective see's against bandits and thieves. They are the Church and they will not surrender Her to her enemies nor flee and allow her flock to be mutilated with the poison of heresy.
