Man, do people have some mis-conceptions.
1st off... that Met. Philaret didn't consider the MP a church. My parents, shortly after the wedding, lived in Nyack right outside of New York City. Every few Sundays, Met. Philaret would have evenings with the local ROCOR young adults. On several occasions, some young adult would be traveling to the USSR for school or business purposes for long periods of time. They would ask Met. Philaret, what to do if they were in need of spiritual guidance & feel a great need for Holy Communion. He would bless them to take it there, not in some catacomb (sp?) church in a basement, apartment, or garage, but at a MP church, if the need arose. BTW, before leaving China, Met. Philaret was in fact under MP jurisdiction. He served there as a heiromonk, commemorating the MP (BTW, this was already after Sergey signed his declaration). Besides being provable if you just look at church docs of that era, my parents heard it from his own lips. As a side note, food for thought, St. John of Shanghi & Met. Philaret both were in China at the same time (granted met. Philaret wasn't a bishop yet).
2ndly, We have never, in all the history of ROCOR broken communion with the Serbian Patriarchate. Actually, after the Russian Revolution, many Russians (clergy and laymen alike) were helped to flee by members on the Serbian church (hence why the most of the first wave immigration came through Belgrade). Because of this, the old-school ROCOR, so to speak, has always had close ties with the Serbs. As long as I can remember, Serbs have been coming and serving at Jordanville, many themselves graduates of Holy Trinity Seminary. I remember during the funeral of Bishop Anthony of San Francisco, the most heartfelt eulogy was delivered by a Fr. Lazar Kostur, (who was 3rd in rank in the line of priests around the coffin) a Serbian priest from Chicago, who had graduated from HTS, which was translated by Fr. Peter Lukianoff, who, after finishing HTS, had gone to Belgrade Theological Academy for his masters. Also, why on earth would Vl. Met. Lavr send his subdeacons to Akron Ohio to serve with Patriarch Pavle, if we weren't in communion??? Just a thought.
And obviously, Juliana, you have never had any contact with Vl. Lavr. I

The list of concelebrations or ROCOR infractions seems to begin only from 1986. Can somebody please give me a list of ROCOR concelebration with Serbs or whoever that occurred between 1983 and 1986--that is, that occurred after the anathema of 1983 but before Metropolitan Philaret's repose?

The accusation is that concelebrations began after his repose; ROCORites say the concelebrations with Serbs never ceased. If I could get a specific listing of concelebrations with Serbs or whoever under Metropolitan Philaret's tenure with his permission and after the anathema, that would show ROCOR's position has not changes.

I think that we are concentrating waaaay too much on Church politics. We should stop this and concentrate on God. We are not being Orthodox Christians by bickering about Church jurisdictions. Just a thought....

Im sorry if I seem like a hypocrite since I started this thread. I was really confused and wanted to get some answers. Thank you to those who replied but I regret making this thread in a way because it has caused some quarelling. It is my fault too.

If it's wrong to concelebrate with the Serbs, why were the future ROAC folks with ROCOR when it was happening?

Julianna, I'm sure I can dig some up for you. Give me a couple days, & I'll find them no problem.
