Xopuct, you were there? So was I. Next time you come by, ask for me. Go to the candle room and ask for Joanna, the convert Pollak. I'm the only one there by that description. Ask Sasha or George.

Sorry I haven't written back - I have been travelling all over the place lately and have not had regular internet access. Yes, I was there. In fact, I am in Montreal a few times a year - although I would be happy to be there more - and the clergy and some of the people in the parish know me. You mean Sasha the Starosta and "Scherby," I take it?

As for the Polak thing, my maternal grandfather was one so I take it as a badge of honour.

I'll look for you next time I'm there - although I don't yet know when that'll be.

George

Yeah, "Scherby".

It's hard for me to get used to thinking of Sasha as a Starosta. Shouldn't he, at least, have some grey hair? Next time I see him, I'll ask him if he wouldn't mind growing a beard, as a start. :D

Looking forward to meeting you.

Half a Polak is better than none.

I am a little confused - why would a starosta need a beard, let alone grey hair? And what if the starosta is a woman (such as in parishes in Ottawa and Toronto) - then only hirsute women need apply? :)

And I guess I am 1/4 Polak!

Off to Theophany services soon, I bet! Your are fortunate to have Frs. George and Mikhail there!
