That would be even more errant! Except for a few exceptions no Divine Liturgy is allowed after noon unless it be a Vesperal Liturgy.

Exactly, no Divine Liturgy is allowed after noon. The day starts at sundown. So a liturgy after that is BEFORE noon.

Holy Transfiguration monastery in Brookline does liturgy every night at midnight. Is that wrong? The day starts at sundown, NOT midnight, keep that in mind.

A Vesperal Divine Liturgy on non-appointed days is the greater abhoration because the typikon only calls for it on certain days, because by celebrating it you are cutting up two services, and by doing it you are avoiding the chance of having Matins celebrated at all.

By doing Matins and a liturgy the night before (something I don't like myself) you are a) not chopping up services and b) celebrating the services on the liturgical day. In Holy Week we do this all the time.

Of course I would appreciate option 1 or 3 myself.

What? When my Church offers a Presanctified Liturgy they are most always in the evenings around 6:00 PM.

During Lent the scedule is switched, Tom. During weekdays of Lent, the days run from midnight to midnight. Presanctified is really Vespers with distribution of communion, so it is not a Divine Liturgy. The Typikon gives different explanations for that service.

Where does this arrangement leave the celebration of Vespers? Is it done in the morning?

"Now that we have come to the setting of the sun" at 9.00am, indeed! ;)

Vespers is omitted in such a case. Obviously an extreme economia.

Liturgy could not be before midnight Anastasios (and usually in parishes should be after sun-up). As for pre-sanctified Liturgies these are in fact Vesperal Liturgies, so thus they must be after noon.
