That would be even more errant! Except for a few exceptions no Divine Liturgy is allowed after noon unless it be a Vesperal Liturgy.
Exactly, no Divine Liturgy is allowed after noon. The day starts at sundown. So a liturgy after that is BEFORE noon.
Holy Transfiguration monastery in Brookline does liturgy every night at midnight. Is that wrong? The day starts at sundown, NOT midnight, keep that in mind.
A Vesperal Divine Liturgy on non-appointed days is the greater abhoration because the typikon only calls for it on certain days, because by celebrating it you are cutting up two services, and by doing it you are avoiding the chance of having Matins celebrated at all.
By doing Matins and a liturgy the night before (something I don't like myself) you are a) not chopping up services and b) celebrating the services on the liturgical day. In Holy Week we do this all the time.
Of course I would appreciate option 1 or 3 myself.
