Discussion about the various True Orthodox Churches around the world including current events. Subforums in other langauges, primarily English on the main forum.
The real reason why Spyridon was retired was for personal sins that the canons call for deposition for. The canons prescribe deposition for a LOT of different sins so please no one read more into the statement than I have written.
The reason why Spyridon was retired was never posted in an offical periodical or internet website, so it would be gossip to post such reasons, hence that is why you have not found any explanations.

Please note that I do not subscribe to "Old Calendar Ecumenism" and believe that only the Synod of Archbishop Kallinikos is the canonical GOC of Greece. I do believe, however, that we can break down barriers and misunderstandings through prayer and discussion on forums such as this one.
Concerning the book on Spyrdon; I have read it. He was a very, very proud and egotisitical man. Something that the Greeks (not Greek-Americans) see as a stong point, but we Americans detest. The author portrays him as a martyr. He was not.
Read the book. The man had no people skills at all. He didn't just burn his bridges; he blew them up.
