Unfortunately, the voice of the speaker, Fr Herman, drowns out plenty of the time in this video.
What i could gather was that Fr Adrian, in all his travels, gathered more Orthodox people around him and led them in a quasi-monastic life.
When, with the help of UNRRA, a large group arrived in the U.S., it was therefore easy for some of Fr Adrian's followers to become the early nuns of the convent.

Apparently, Fr Adrian decided to join Rocor instead of the OCA because Archbishop Nikon asked him to found a convent. The OCA showed no such interest, not surprisingly.

If i understood right, a Bishop - which one ? - wanted to found a convent up at the Russian River. Fr Adrian may have gone to look at the location but somehow it didn't suffice.

So Fr Adrian went bac to New York and started Novo-Diveyevo, with the men becoming Priests, some of them, and the women nuns. 3 nuns from Abbess Ariadna's Convent in Shanghai who said they did NOT fit in with the rest may have joined the fledgling Convent outside New York city by 25 miles.

The rest of the group and 1,000 Displaced Persons settled around the Convent, providing a ready-made support community for it.
