While this video is from an overall "official Orthodoxy" perspective, there are some interesting historical points made about the history of Orthodoxy in the continental United States from 1890-1917. It definitely seems very disorganized with overlapping jurisdictions, rogue clergy, and old world issues coming over. However, I also learned about some interesting (and relatively unknown) figures who really wanted to spread the True Faith in North America, and we owe a debt to them. There are also lessons we can learn as their true successors for the future of The Church in these lands.

Absolutely necessary background, as well as the Old Believer schism/First Vatican Council and its aftermath in Europe.

Where can I learn more about these topics? I know for the latter topic there was the 1895 response of the Synod of the Constantinopolitan Patriarchate to Leo XIII.
