I don't know if this has been done on this forum already, but which synods are universally accepted as authoritative (and produced such statements, canons, or confessions of faith) for the Orthodox Church after the Seven Ecumenical Synods? I have the following so far:
-Constantinople 879-880
-Constantinople/Blachernae 1285
-Constantinople 1341, 1347, and 1351
-Constantinople 1484
-Constantinople 1583, 1587, 1593
-Jassy (Iași) 1642
-Jerusalem/Bethlehem 1672
-Constantinople 1848
-Constantinople 1872
If any of these are not universally authoritative, please let me know. Also, please let me know if I missed any. This message is meant as a starting point for discussion on this. It seems good to do this with all the confusion on dogmatic issues these days.
Also, are the statements of faith like the letter of St. Mark of Ephesus, confession of St. Gennadius, letters of Patriarch Jeremias II, confession of Patriarch Metrophanes, and answers to the Non-Jurors also considered universally dogmatic since their thoughts were incorporated into later synodal statements?
