EP-Bartholomew:narcissistic self-admiration !

Post by Barbara »

Almost unbelievable self-adulation !
Patriarch Bartholomew posing with a STATUE of himself in Melbourne, Australia.

According to the Orthodox Times, he "visited the headquarters of the Holy Diocese of Chora at the Holy Monastery of the Virgin Mary “Axion Esti” in Northcote, Melbourne, on Tuesday, October 15, accompanied by Archbishop Makarios of Australia".

The article raves about the peace and tranquility Pat. Bartholomew radiates. About how simple and approachable he is, sitting on a bench instead of towering from a pedestal.

The statue was sculpted by a Sam Jinks.
Will it be 'jinxed' - ? OR, be viewed as a 'jinx' by viewers ?

Funny how that always happens.

It's like when I mentioned Fr. Athanasios Mitilinaios to someone who started telling me about how he went to the elder, who gave him a photo of himself. Why in the world would I want to hand out pictures of myself? For people to venerate?! Filaret Denysenko did the same thing but worse when he had church made with himself in the murals. We all know why: so a halo can be added later.

There are legitimate reasons to have one's picture taken and it can stay at that.

I'm pretty sure that actual saints don't view themselves as so holy that they need to start spreading pictures around for people to add halos after they die. That's deluded. And weird.

Filaret Denisenko did a lot worse than made murals of himself. Let's say you don't want to have tea with him.

I thought I've seen in Joel's (Rumplestilskin) videos, images of Bart in murals at churches as well as MP Kyril, if I'm remembering correctly.

Joel has videos ? I didn't know THAT ! Good for him.

So Pat Bartholomew has other offending images on the walls of churches ? Unbelievable !
A compete giveaway as to his inner self, about which we here have been speaking out for so long !

Where might Pat Kirill have appeared ? I think I remember something, but don't recall either.

The worst clearly are Pat Bartholomew's evidences of self-worship.

I still can't get over this latest example !
Of all the conceit to permit that to have been sculptured to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Greek Australian diocese, instead of a statue of a relevant Saint !

About the handing out of pictures of an Elder, it depends whether it's a TRUE Elder or a fake one. Several Optina Elders did give their spiritual children photos of themselves. Black and white, of course, from the 19th century.
But that was way different. There was no internet or easy printing of pictures.
So the pilgrims would have cherished these portrait studio cards, handed them down to their descendants as valuable heirlooms.
There might be some still floating around somewhere !

Today being the Vigil of Synaxis of Optina Elders, I just thought I would add that in here.

But for some contemporary fake-elder to do that today is, I agree with eish, very strange; even suspicious.

Who is that Fr Anastasios you mentioned, by the way, a New Calendar Greek "elder" ?
