Hello, does anyone out there have any experience dealing with anyone who is caught up in the religion of either the Bahais or Sufis?
I have a friend who is formerly Orthodox who is now, I have come to suspect, following it and I don't really know what to make of it.

Bahais are a zillion miles away from Sufis.
Which one did you mean ?
Bahais are extremely suspect.

After researching the two of them, (both muslim heretics), they definitely are not Sufi but Bahai.

The two groups are COMPLETELY different.
A baddie of which you would not have heard is the Ahmadis. Bad news, too.
But no Westerner would be joining THEM.
However, many Americans and Europeans have for some unknown reason, gone to the Bahais.
It's the type of thing they do as a seeking [not Sikh-ing !] phase.
Usually it's a fad which doesn't last too long.

The Amadiyyas are the least noxious of the Islamic sects. They disavow violence which results in fierce persecution from other Muslims who regard them as heretics.
The Sufis are more "mystical" then other groups. This does not make them any less brutal to non-muslims as evidenced by their behaviour in Chechnya.

And they are frequently and brutally persecuted by both Sunni and Shia alike. Here in Birmingham their mosque is immediately adjacent to the Royal Navy and Royal Marine Reserve training centre, and they offered hospitality to the reserve units recently. This is something I am not aware of any of the very many other mosques doing.

very sad indeed what is going on with so many deceptive sects everywhere promising world peace and unity for all.
