Skinheads unite with Babas in anti-gay protest

Skinheads unite with Christians in anti-homosexual protest
ETHAN MCNERN

A GROUP of skinheads and elderly Russian women holding religious icons disrupted a homosexual event at a Moscow nightclub, forcing clubbers to be evacuated by bus, it was reported yesterday.

More than 150 far-right activists and Orthodox Christian militants blocked the entrance to the La Guardia nightclub on Sunday.

Police had to form a chain to separate the protesters from people inside the club and the event did not take place because many of its guests could not get in.

Some of the young people started to throw eggs, tomatoes and plastic bottles when other guests began leaving the club by bus, according to television footage.

"We know this is a sin and we can't allow it to flourish here. These lesbians and sodomites, their souls will die, they will go to hell," said an elderly Orthodox woman, while other protesters yelled homophobic insults.

Moscow's mayor earlier this year refused to allow the Russian capital's first homosexual parade because the proposed 27 May event had "evoked outrage in society, in particular among religious leaders".

Human rights groups criticised the decision as a violation of civil rights. Police declined to comment on the nightclub incident, but the leftist Radical Party accused the police officers at the scene of failing to protect the clubbers from the protesters.

"If the police chiefs cannot force their subordinates, among whom there are significant numbers of homophobes, to obey orders, these chiefs should be fired," the party said.

The West Is Failing In Russia

Post by Kollyvas »

Christ is Risen!
Now a skinhead in drag dressed like a babushka...invincible. LOL!

Just another example of how the Western agenda is not working in the re-emerging Russia.

Love is a holy state of the soul, disposing it to value knowledge of God above all created things. We cannot attain lasting possession of such love while we are attached to anything worldly. —St. Maximos The Confessor

All,
Maybe I'm way off center on this one, but how can we even think about associating with such hate that the skinhead represent?

Subdeacon John,

If I may interject a thought here, a few years ago in America there was a movement that has ben referenced on this forum many times, Punx to Monks. These were kids engrossed in the modern "Punk movement" in America.

Through the example of Orthodoxt in their lives many of them left the movement to embrace Orthodoxy. I am not saying here that the Punks movement is without fault here as there is a lot within it that I do not agree with, however, I think that in the case of the article referenced above it is good ot see that there are people willing to stand up for the right belief, even when their social group stands for acceptance and agreement with a lot of what these people stood against.

If only many more Orthodox Christians could "put their money where their mouth is" when it comes to things like this.

If you want to see some of the articles on the Punx to Monks movement you can find threads on the topic.

Juvenaly,
I am sorry if it came out wrong. Of course we should always witness to everyone, no sin is too great. But to see an article like that, made me wonder if the protest was set up by both; the local church and the skinheads.
When I said "associating" earlier, I did not mean one on one, I meant as organizations. Both the church and the skinheads orginizing a protest. I hope that clears up what I meant......clear as mud?

Take care

One more thing, would it then be OK if the Church and the homosexual community join to protest the skinheads? Retorical question: Which sin is worst?

I actually took the story to mean that they ended up at the same place protesting it, just like these anti-war protests I see, there are people there because they hate the president, people there that are preaching communism, people simply against war, etc. All different groups with different world views and end-goals, but at the same place united against war.
