ROAC: Tonsuring of Schema Monk Andrew

Post by Грешник »

I would like to announce to all of you the tonsuring today of Schema Monk Andrew of the ROAC. Father Andrew was named after the Apostle Andrew, the First Called.

Being present at the tonsuring myslef I can tell you that the entire experience was the most beautiful experience I have ever seen. The range of emotions of the monks as well as the Bishop were a new experience to me. To see the love of the brotherhood was so moving. Almost everyone in the room was crying by the touching experience.

As soon as they are posted I will post images of the event so that everyone can see the event for themselves.

that would have been a beautiful experience to see... I look forward to seeing pictures of it. I've never seen a monk tonsured before I don't think.

Not to rain on the parade but- on another forum it is beng discussed that Fr. Andrew (born McLaughlin but later changed his surname to Maklakov) was received into the ROAC by chrismation, but then allowed to serve as a priest without reordination. Firstly, it testitfies to ROAC's weirdness that someone should be "re-chrismated" upon entering their jurisdiction. Secondly, as a forum member over there asked:
"Can you cite a single example from Church history in which a priest who was ordained within the Orthodox Church was received by Chrismation, and then treated still as a priest?"
Thirdly, this priest was originally received into ROCOR- the same jurisdiction Gregory came from. Was gregory received through chrismation into ROAC? If not, why?

I'm usually not one for plagiarizing another's post- but this was too weird to pass up.

Here is the link to the images I promised as well as a biography of Father Andrew.

For those who write for the Enquirer, you might do well calling Father Andrew yourselves and asking him of his history. I am sure he would be more than happy to answer all your questions. :)
