Elusive Quotes

Post by David »

I came across a quote from the Desert Fathers the other day and was wondering whether anyone knew where I could find it/ which Father said it. The gist of it was that this elder would always sought to learn something from everyone he came in contact with. And whenever he failed to learn something from an individual he would look first to himself and try to figure out WHY he had not been edified from the encounter.
God bless!

It's in the book Sayings of the Desert Fathers by Columba Stewart. I'll leaf through it when I get home and see if I can spot it.

I haven't been able to find it. :( If I ever do, though, I'll post it here.

I appreciate your looking for that quote for me, I've checked my Desert Father collections as well and haven't located it yet.... I guess I'll just have to "get desperate" and pray that it comes across my path :-)
God Bless,

All I know is that every time I look at the subject line of this thread I keep thinking it says "Elvis Qoutes".

Maybe it has to do with what Peter mentioned with rgeadr to cahnging the lteters in each wrod.

I received the following message from a lurker of the Café:

The person with whom the quote is associated is St. Antony of the Desert, the Father of Monks.  I hope this helps David.

Thanks to both you and the anonymous lurker for supplying the author of the quote I am seeking- I appreciate it :-)
It will definitely narrow down the search considerably.
