The Athonite elder Abimilech of Little Saint Anne's Skete was the first person to advocate for the canonization of Saint Nektarios and published the first biography of him in 1921 a year after his repose, containing several accounts of the saint's miracles. In 1961 he was officially canonized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
