Priests and monks who have ceased commemorating the EP

Post by Maria »

Last Sunday, Archimandrite Paisios Papadopoulos, abbot of the Monastery of Saint Gregory Palamas, Ptolomaida, Greece, announced that he would no longer commemorate his Metropolitan or any other bishop that commemorates Patriarch Bartholomew. He is following the example of many fathers of Mt. Athos.

You can view his sermon (in Greek), as well as that of his head chanter, Demetrios Emmanuel at: ΠΑΪΣΙΟΣ ΠΑΠΑΔΟΠΟΥΛΟΣ ΙΜ ΓΡΗΓΟΡΙΟΥ ΠΑΛΑΜΑ ΦΛΩΡΙΝΑΣ

Courtesy of Fr. Panagiotes Carras via his Yahoo account.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

But where is he going?

What bishop will he be under? Is he staying under the same Greek bishop?

If you happen to hear if Archimandrite Paisios changes jurisdiction, hopefully to a TOC, please let us know !
Maybe it takes time and negotiations for such major switches to be arranged ? Maybe we won't hear anything for awhile therefore.

Most likely, he will not change jurisdictions but will continue to commemorate his local bishop, who commemorates the EP. Some of these priests may come into True Orthodoxy, but most will not, but will stay on the fringes as long as they can keep the antimension.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.
