A new article about Rhodiola. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Arch. Nilos.
Tests in fruit flies seem promising:
The scientists also noted that not only did Rhodiola increase the life expectancy, but it also delayed the loss of physical performance which is considered to be a natural part of the aging process (in fruit flies and humans!) and thus presumably not only enhanced the quantity but the quality of life.
Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.
Rosea, you mean, Archimandrite.
A quite interesting fact :
"adaptogen Rhodiola
rosea (Russian Rhodiola) is a perennial plant with red, pink, or yellowish
flowers. It has no biological relation to the "common" rose, but due to its similar fragrance it has been used as a substitute for Attar of Roses."
Well, you beat me to this ! I was going to put an article on this great herb up here back in 2012 - ! 3 years it has languished in my files, forgotten.
I will post below.
Another Siberian herb into which to look is : Rhaponticum carthamoides
I am not sure how different it is from Rhodiola Rosea. Both seem to have similar effects on the central nervous system. We herbalists should check into this as well.
These fabulous herbs are both found in the mysterious, exotic Altai Mountains of Russia, which have always sounded appealing.
Rhodiola can be grown here in the US and probably France as well. I was checking into that back in 2012, but one can see I didn't even get around to posting the article. Let alone planting a Rhodiola patch !
The article points out, though, a fact which I was going to highlight in replying to your post. It greatly matters FROM WHERE the Rhodiola is derived. Tibetan and Chinese Rhodiolas are nearly valueless. One will note the bias of the no-doubt Russian writers. But what they say rings true.

One thing I will mention is that the authors maintain that the full herb is the right way to purchase the Rhodiola.
I tried to contact the link given to ask about pricing but never received any answer.
Perhaps there are reliable businesses which import WHOLE Rhodiola Root.
That is what I was aiming for.
I looked at Mountain Rose Herbals' Rhodiola and didn't feel impressed.
It needs more research. Glad that you brought this up, Archimandrite, to spur us all to check more into this valuable herb.
What I have taken for nearly 10 years is the Gaia Herbs Rhodiola Root capsules and the HerbPharm tincture of Rhodiola. I dropped the capsules many years ago, but used to take them abundantly. Why ? Because this root is highly recommended for Adrenal Fatigue, which many, many of us have, often without realizing it.
A side note : DO NOT read or take the "Fatigued to Fantastic" system. I found the author's approach to be glitzy. The best book is Dr Jim Wilson's "Adrenal Fatigue : The 20th Century Syndrome". His supplements are really costly. Probably one can assemble the right herbs on their own at home. Rhodiola would be the backbone of those !
I found, by the way, that i could not sleep if I took Rhodiola later than midday. This is a warning in case anyone else is sensitive to it like I am. I suggest only taking it mornings.

What is the best source of this herb?
Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.
I would have thought that this Natural Elixir site would furnish good sound FULL Rhodiola Root. But their customer care leaves much to be desired ! After no acknowledgment of my email, I gave up on them.
Now, I see that the Home page does not give a location. It mentions lovely spa trips to Hungary. Sounds fun ! And trips to the Adriatic. But who are the owners and where are they situated ? Too mysterious to want to take a chance buying from THEM.
So that is why I say I checked Mountain Rose in Oregon. But I never feel too inclined toward THEIR herbs.
Therefore, I am searching still. I dropped it for awhile, as I forgot after the inconclusive effort described here. But any of us who find any good source should tell the rest.
It should not be THAT difficult to find an importer.
If it weren't for a subconscious 'fear' of getting 'Lost in the Taiga', I would want to go over myself and root out some of these helpful roots !
