I found this on a Spanish blog called "Of Kings, Gods and Heroes". I didn't know any of this history !
Here is the Part I of the Kievan Princess who went to France and was crowned at Rheims.
If one goes to the site, and clicks the English, it will show up in a minute or two.
A bit disjointed, as all these guggl translates are.
But picturesque :

Part II follows.

Yes, this is historical fact. The Treasury of the Reims Cathedral still has the Slavonic Gospels that Princess Anne of Kiev brought with her, and the marriage agreement-- she signed her name, but Philippe "X"-ed his, as he was illiterate. The last monastery that she founded and where she lived up until her death is not that far from here, at Senlis. We visited there a few years back, when an old friend of the monastery was receiving a "Legion d'Honneur" award, for his historical study of the town. Her memory is still very much alive there.
