Tom,
We're not talking about loving smiles and joy, but laughter. Those who met Him and believed, loved Him and those who didn't believe, feared Him.
They noticed Him not because they saw charisma, but because His Holy Grace could not be ignored, when they met Him. He's God. He doesn't need a charismatic personality; that's a protestant term; and we know that protestants are void of any spirtual interpretations of the Holy Bible. HE'S GOD - HE IS ALL GRACE. He is our Creator. Even the saints were noticed because they were full of God's Grace, not because people saw charisma.
Christ taught in the Beatitudes: Woe unto you that laugh now. For ye shall mourn and weep. (Luke 6:25)
Do you think He would have laughed before or after He taught this? He would have been an hypocrite, like your American evangelists.
And He also taught, on the Mount: Rejoice, ye, in that day and leap for joy; for behold, your reward is great in Heaven. (Luke 6:23)
He supports joy and leaping, but for the blessings in Heaven, not for things in this world. If we really knew the hell we could face, we would be weeping everyday, for our salvation.
Satan loves laughter, especially against God, His saints and believers. There are plenty of examples of that in the Bible. And he hates happiness that involves the joy we keep in our hearts for our faith, but he revels in the happiness of the godless people for worldly concerns.
