Although Evangelicals have a certain robustness about their faith, I find it somewhat offensive when they carry on about "Jesus is my friend." Our Lord and God and Saviour is not "a friend.", He is, as the Sinai Icon proclaims "Pantocrator."
A little more reverence and humility would not come amiss.

That evangelical song, O What A Friend We Have in Jesus, comes to mind.

Lord have mercy. When Evangelicals and Pentecostals focus on Jesus as a Friend, they lose sight of His Divinity.

Not to sound off, but I have always thought that these kinds who are born into OR 'convert to' evangelicalism
are rather primitive souls who can NOT conceive of the Majesty of God, or probably even realize that
the Creator is not just a slightly more advanced human being !
They can only imagine Him as their next door neighbor, because that is all they can SEE with their eyes is other
human beings. They don't REALLY believe in an all-powerful God. Just a "pal" to hang around with.

All those religions which lower God into a confidante, Someone to have "a conversation with", totally miss the Mark.
Their faith is terribly weak.

I always figure, well, it's the best they can do so it's better than being an atheist....

At least as far as Evangelicals go, they do have some little training in demonology. But not the rich teaching
provided by Orthodoxy.

I hope our True Orthodox Bishops will be able to remind their flocks in sermons and epistles to be on guard against the
constant demonic attacks especially in the modern societies where many reside. That's just a sidenote.
Spelling things out, rather than assuming everyone already is alert, is an important feature in combating ignorance or neglect of important principles.
