World Orthodoxy v. The Remnant

Post by Julianna »

I think its only a matter of time before the PofC goes and starts using the anathemized Gregorian Paschalarion and tries to drag World Orthodoxy along with it into communion with the schismatic Roman Papists.

...According to the Protodeutera Ecumenical Council 15th cannon, the monks had an obligation to cease commemoration of the patriarch, since the Roman Catholic Church is a known heretical group to the Orthodox Church, and has been declared as such by the holy synods of the Church. The fathers of Esphigmenou correctly invoked the 15th cannon' The declaration of heresy of the Roman Catholic church can only be lifted by another ecumenical synod, and cannot be done by any one individual in the church, patriarch or otherwise.

Does anyone have any information on this Protodeutera Council?

"Protodeutera" is what is called Greenglish...a greek word written in a Latin font.

The real word is (edited out since this site is predudice and only supports Russian fonts, and not Greek (I would have put a smiley face here but I didn't see one with a Greek fishermans hat))

Proto = first

deutera = second

This refers to the first-second synod of Constantinople in 867. The forgery weilding Pope Nicholas I was deposed and the filioque was officially branded a heresy by the patriarchs of Jerusalem, Antioch, Alexandria. This was later confirmed by the 8th ecumenical council of 879 with 383 Bishops and the Orthodox Pope John VIII (later known as pope "joan" because the Franks hated him so much).

In 1009 Pope Sergius IV sent a letter to Constantinople containing the filioque, rather like declaring their heresy again. From 1009 on the Pope

Thank you /\ It took me a while to figure out what protodeutera meant, though I guess it should have been obvious (if I'd been using my head).

Court date on Esphigmenou changed

Post by OrthodoxyOrDeath »

The Greek court changed the date it will make its final decision on Esphigemenou from October to May 27, 2003.

I wonder if there were any politics behind this change. I guess everything will now be decided next week. Pray the monks don't meet the same fate as the ROCOR skete on Mt. Athos.

On a lighter note...

It is believed the pilot is one of two "old calendarists" in the Greek air force who sometimes buzz Esphigmenou.
