Brendan--
The Europeans who came here found the "Indians" didn't make any distinction between Kennewicks man's decendants who came in the first immigration wave and the "Asiastic hordes" (settled mostly in the West) who came in the next two waves.
For the most part, European colonists (English, French or Spanish) felt the only good Indian was a dead one or an exiled or enslaved one, Kennewick descended or not.
On the other hand, white Christian missionaries in both North and South America tried to protect the Indian from the rapacious European colonists. The Cherokees managed to develop their own writing (without European or Christian help) and became civilized. But that wasn't good enough for the white Georgians who imprisoned the white missionaries for preaching Christianity to them (Georgia ruled that the missionaries preached as sedition), and shortly afterwards, then robbed the Cherokees of their land exiling them to Oklahoma, even though the Supreme Court had ruled in their favor.
The Jesuits helped the Paraguaian Indians to reach a level of civilization with sophisticated art , music and culture that is still spoken of by the Indians as "the golden age" before Spanish and Portuguese slavers destroyed it.
Not to mention the Indian Christian colony that was wiped out by drunken whites in Ohio that damaged Christian missionary efforts for several decades in the 19th century.
Bartolome de Las Casas was the first missionary to write and preach against the abuses of the whites against the Indians (Kennewick descended or not). Current international law is based upon his arguments that the Indian is not inferior to the white, especially in regard to receiving the blessings of Christian grace.
Give up it. Give up the white power nonsense--become a Christian.
