Colleges

Post by Natasha »

It seems to me that is the way that most colleges/universities are these days. Nothing you mentioned seemed particularly shocking, actually it seemed kind of standard.

Then again, I went to Simon's Rock College of Bard one summer and was exposed to a lot of craziness. I almost went to Antioch in OH, but after one visit, you couldn't drag me back. I don't know if anyone is familiar with Antioch, but it is known for being extremely liberal.

I live right down the road from Simon's Rock now...in Sheffield, Mass.

Indeed you are right. The post-modernist spirit and decedence is pretty much standard these days in Colleges. However, the halfway to extrememly shocking stuff I expirienced in my three years plus at Purchase I would hardly mention in the good Orthoodox company of this list. Purchase being an art school had really attracted the freeks, both professors and students (It was said at the time me and Josh went there that it was 50% homosexual, my professors having a higher percentage). It seemed a lot to me that many of my proffessors sole purpose in life was to say foul things about and attack Christ, not even indirectly. On the other hand I a lot of other colleges I visited had a lot of particular kinds of evils that Purchase didn't have to such an extent (guns, gangs, frats, violence etc..) which was good. I guess one of the reasons also why I remember it so negatively is because I lived there pretty consistently for close to four years without a car to get away when needed and I was also at a point of just comming to faith.

In Christ,

Nicholas
