My first reaction to what you wrote is ....HUH???????
I asked a simple question....if we Orthodox are for TRUTH than how can a proven hoax be anything worth our consideration?
Dear Katya,
Just answer this question for me
Do you believe that St Seraphim of Sarov's conversation on the accquisition of the Holy Spirit is also a hoax?
As Constantine would say...Yes or No?
Thank you,
Theophan.
Also you might like to read this to get things a better vantage point.

I would also recommend it to everyone else.
I found it very inspiring.

Theophan:
I have neer had any reason to question St Seraphim or any of his writings. Are you saying that I now have one?
But then St Seraphim is hardly the same as Sergei Nilus..is he?

Theophan:
I see now where you are headed with your arguement.
It won't fly. Because Nilus was given an opportunity to publish a good work in his later life, which by the way was not his work but Molotov's, does NOT negate the fact that the Protocols was a hoax and a plagaritic forgery that Nilus included within his own works.
Sorry you are going to have to do better than that.

I will trust only the teachings of the Church and the Orthodox saints on this one. I would also remind you that it may often be very difficult to determine the true genealogy of most modern homo sapiens beyond a few generations. Most of us will probably be surprised to learn, ultimately, who some of our ancestors were. As an example, consider that a significant number of Hebrews became the first Christians in the first century A.D. What of their offspring? Their descendants would not be numbered amongst the population of modern "Rabbinical" Jews--Sephardim, Ashkenazi, or otherwise--although modern genetic testing has clarified some issues of this nature. The problem is further clouded by historical illegitimacy, and the forced or political conversion of many European Jews to Catholicism in past generations. Who would have thought, for example, that Colin Powell is a close, genetic relative of Queen Elisabeth II of England? Former Secretary of State Madeline Albright did not even know that she was from a family of Czechoslovakian Jews until a few years ago. Perhaps even you, yourself, may be related to those apparently infamous "Elders of Zion" whom you despise with such exemplary Christian caritas...

Excuse me but how can a work that has long been proven to be a HOAX be taken for anything but a hoax?
It appears that everyone of those protocols up to I believe it's protocol 21 or so have been seen in our modern society.
If it's a "hoax", it's a real coincidental one. I am not looking at them as an Orthodox source but rather more like a "know your nemesis" handbook.

Xenia:
I can understand the fasination with it in Orthodox circles, given who apparently published it, but studies have been done on this document and the author stole whole sentenses from practically all the major writers of the Enlightenment, everyone from Kant to Nietzsche. It is NOT a document to be considered for anything by an Orthodox person, stick to the wrtings of the Holy Fathers, it's more edifying.

Dear Paroslavnik,
This is NOT about RACE.
Orthodoxy and racism are incompatible.
Jews can, and indeed many have, become Orthodox.
One of the sub-deacons in my parish is of jewish descent.
Theophan.
