Oh, thank you for both this information about Fr George Calciu ! I wonder whether that last name is Romanian for calcium - ?
Anyway, that's fascinating that his relics were found to be incorrupt - is that official or anecdotal ?
He suffered SO MUCH that one could imagine him being on this level. Whereas Mother Olga...???
I'm not aware of details, either. I only know as soon as he arrived in America, Fr George was eagerly snapped up by Abbot Herman of Platina. The St Herman of Alaska Press published at least 2[?] books of Fr George's writings and teachings. One was called "Christ is Calling You", I think.
But WHY he would have gone to the OCA I have no clue. Except that they have that Romanian section. Could that have been the reason ?

Re: Fake-saint Mother Olga of Alaska
Do let us know any updates on the Romanian elders.
That is indeed bizarre, though, that Fr George went to the OCA> He was under the aegis of Fr Herman at Platina for a long time, I know. But then Fr George must have opted for the OCA somehow ? Clarification would be good if anyone does know.
Speaking of the OCA, further about Fake-St Olga of Alaska :
"Agnes, the daughter of St. Olga of Alaska, has reposed in the Lord.
The OCA Diocese of Sitka and Alaska reports:
It is with profound sadness but with the hope of the Resurrection that the Handmaiden of God Agnes (Ashapak) has fallen asleep in the Lord. Agnes, as many affectionately know, was the daughter of the saintly Blessed Matushka Olga of Alaska. She helped capture Saint Olga's life and was a faithful daughter of the people of Kwethluk and of the Church in Alaska.
May her memory be eternal and her soul dwell with the blessed!
A panikhida for the repose of her soul was served at All Saints Chapel at St. Herman Theological Seminary in Kodiak, Alaska, yesterday.
Source : OrthoChristian - Agnes’ mother, St. Olga, was canonized by the OCA Holy Synod last November. Plans are underway for the liturgical proclamation of this decision."
Daughter of St. Olga of Alaska reposes in the Lord
Re: Fake-saint Mother Olga of Alaska
I just saw on today's Church Calendar that today, the day I felt I should post this small news item, is the very day of Mat Olga's repose in 1979.
The OCA must be REALLY desperate to conjure up saints for itself to have tried to pawn off Mat Olga as such on the Orthodox world !
Surely this underhanded action reveals much about the OCA's immense insecurity, probably longstanding, in this regard.
Especially vis-a-vis Rocor, which from its inception overflowed with genuine holy figures.
It would be nobler of the OCA to just admit that maybe something is wrong with that jurisdiction because no bona fide saints have ever been produced in it.

Re: Fake-saint Mother Olga of Alaska
Our dearest sister Barbara mentioned Matushka Olga Mikhail in another forum post, and it reminded me of this: Now on Legacy Icons they are selling icons of Matushka Olga where she is being called "the Northern Light of Orthodoxy in America" and depicted holding a baptismal font and a regal dress like St. Olga of Kiev or another Equal to the Apostles... They are really going all in with this person being the most important Saint for America despite a whole three pages of information existing about her...

Re: Fake-saint Mother Olga of Alaska
Thank you for letting us know ! I'll take a look at that website, as it sounds just AWFUL !
There are no words to describe how appalling this is - while Metropolitan Philaret and others remained almost ignored by the World Orthodox.
I believe the level of discernment, especially among new Western converts, is exceedingly low for them to be SO taken in this way over almost literally a nobody !
If we want to bring attention to a Matushka, think of all the noble ones who have lived during the Russian Revolution, fled into exile, enduring terrible hardships. There are so many and they are nearly unsung.
Example would be Matushka Evgenia Rymarenko, wife of the later Abp Andrei [Rymarenko] of Rockland.
She spoke MUCH with the late Optina Elders, especially Elder Nektary.
Her book relating her experiences with him is a real gem !
What did this almost MYTHICAL Mat. Olga DO - NOTHING !
I am SO DISMAYED to see the widespread adulation directed at HER !
Re: Fake-saint Mother Olga of Alaska
REALLY, that title and the icons are pathetic !
Here is the main "icon" labeled "The Northern Light of Orthodoxy" - what a JOKE !
Why is the baptismal font replica included ? Was that one of the 3 stories known about her, that she assisted with a baptism -?
And, who are the Legacy Icons people, by the way ? I couldn't find any information about them at that site. Are they OCA perhaps ? Or general World Orthodox ?
