We have the book, Orthodox Baptismal Names, by Matushka Melania Adamcio put out by St. Ignatius of Antioch Press. I'm curious if any one knows of any others and how they may be layed out.
Thanks,
Daniel

Daniel, I've never seen a book on baptismal names so I can't help.
When deciding on the names for our children, we yanked all of the books on the lives of the saints from the shelf and scanned/read quite a bit. We also looked at the Great Horologian (HTM) which has lists and lists and lists and more lists of names and when they are commemorated (a must have book in general).

I have run though some St. Herman Calenders to get more names. The book we have is pretty nice. It gives the meaning of the name, what language it comes from and variations of the name in different languages (ie. Madeleine is French form of Magdalene). I think it lists about 10,000 names or so. I'm just curious if any one knew of any other book like it.

There is a tradition to name you child after the feast day of the saint they were born, one for the 8th day after birth, and another where it is the day of Baptism. I am sure there are other traditions as well.
