St George Karslides - ??

Post by Barbara »

I followed a link of Maria's to this JohnSanidopoulos blog. Who is this person ? A New Calendarist ? I am not clear.
Anyway I saw he had "Sayings of St George Karslides" on his Sept 29 issue.

Has this Elder been glorified officially ? If so, by whom, Old Calendar or New ?

Anyone from the Greek Toc's know the answer ?

John is definitely new calendar. He does have interesting information about saints and feast days. You need to pick and chose what you can use. He sees old calendarists as schismatics. And I think he believes in theological evolution. Never heard of George.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Ps. 50)

I will answer my own question - 3 years later !

I learned today, November 4, that this is the EP's designated Feast Day for Elder George Karslides. This Elder was glorified by the EP on November 2, 2008, while the New Calendar Romanian Patriarchate added him to their diptychs in October 2015.

As far as I have read, no other jurisdictions have glorified this Elder who lived much of his life in Drama, Northern Greece.

It is said that this Elder had a sign of the cross on his skull, a great rarity.
