While this is not a red aurora, it most certainly is beautiful as is the church.

Re: RED AURORAS
AFTER LAST WEEK'S "MASSIVE AURORAS," WHAT WILL THIS WEEK BRING? Arctic sky watchers are still buzzing about last week's 3-day outburst of Northern Lights. Many veteran observers ranked it as the brightest display they had seen in years. Photographer Ole Salomonsen was one of them. "On Friday, Oct. 9th, I was treated with perhaps the most massive aurora I have ever witnessed," he says. "They appeared right over my hometown, Tromsø, Norway."

With a huge coronal hole, we can be expecting some fantastic red auroras. Here is one from Norway by Håvard Larsen on October 7, 2015 @ North of Norway. Balsfjord

On October 12, 2015, Alan Dyer remarks:
The night of Oct 12-13, 2015, Canadian Thanksgiving, saw a fine aurora display which started about midnight as a well-defined bright but quiescent arc, the classic auroral oval across my northern horizon as seen from southern Alberta. Before I could get the camera going, the arc was already breaking up into curtains and streamers as a substorm hit. The display continued for over 2 hours of shooting and was still going when I stopped and turned in for the night! These frames are some of the 420 I shot for a time-lapse sequence. They show the occasional red streamers and the large-scale patchiness toward the end of the display when large areas of the sky were turning off and on.

Another red aurora ... mostly green with a tinge of purple.
NORTHERN LIGHTS: Earth is passing through a stream of solar wind flowing from a gigantic coronal hole on the sun. The passage is sparking Northern Lights around the Arctic Circle. Marketa Murray sends this picture, taken last night, from the countryside outside Fairbanks, Alaska:

Below is another picture of this fantastic heavenly display of lights with the Milky Way across the entire sky.
