Texas - 'No Court, No Law' Will Change Definition

Post by Maria »

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Friday declared that nothing will change the definition of marriage, despite the Supreme Court's ruling that same-sex couples in the U.S. have the right to marry.

His statement sounds solid, but he still bows down to the ruling. He's a man that sits on the fence. Luke-warm. He's playing his cards close to his chest, but I won't be surprised if he one day gives in altogether. Either that or he will resign because they will oust him out. It truly is the end of times. I've been having this sick feeling in my soul since I heard about this bill passing.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Ps. 50)

The Texan Governor also stated:

“The Texas Constitution guarantees that ‘[n]o human authority ought, in any case whatsoever, to control or interfere with the rights of conscience in matters of religion.’ The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees the free exercise of religion; and the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act, combined with the newly enacted Pastor Protection Act, provide robust legal protections to Texans whose faith commands them to adhere to the traditional understanding of marriage.

“As I have done in the past, I will continue to defend the religious liberties of all Texans—including those whose conscience dictates that marriage is only the union of one man and one woman. Later today, I will be issuing a directive to state agencies instructing them to prioritize the protection of Texans’ religious liberties.”

Let's hope this will hold some weight.

Joasia, EXACTLY ! I feel totally sick. Then with all these articles cheerfully promoting the whole thing, and covering the "rejoicing" at this travesty.
I thought I saw a headline "Mixed reaction in Russia". I didn't deign to read the article.
But one can be sure the coverage was completely slanted. The idea is clearly to advertise protestors over there who are in favor of this evil and make it sound like they are nearly half the nation. Americans could care less about the truth.

It also makes one realize just WHY this unrelenting campaign to put Russia in the enemy driver's seat has been conducted.
Surely there are geopolitical quarrels. But this may well be an underlying if not an obvious goal : to get Russia's Church and society to toe the same line. If they won't, boom, threat of attack by the once-proud organization Nato. Now a tool of evil.

Like I am sure you feel the same, I am waiting with trepidation that woe is going to befall this country - and yours too, for Canada will do the mimic routine for sure, as it's in the hands of the same cabal.

Barbara,

I've been feeling sick for a while since Canada had legalized homosexual marriage, nationwide since 2005. The U.S. is following little brother. All of North America is going to hell in a hand basket. As for Russia's situation, I'm just waiting for St. Seraphim to appear. Nothing will be made right until then. I think Russia will still have to face an ultimatum of faith. The final one. As for North American, She is doomed. It's only our Orthodox faith that will keep us right with God. Lord have mercy on us and the struggles we will have to face.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Ps. 50)
