Beuatiful icons! Thanks you for bringing this site to our attention. Yes, we have a few in our family, including one I commissioned for my parents, of their two saints together, as a thank-you gift to them from my bride and myself on our wedding day.

Sometimes you come across these icons and it doesn't automatically click that they are family icons, as in, look, it's Sts Peter and Paul ... no wait, Peter and Demetrios!

I have never seen or heard of a family Icon. Very nice. And for me, better leave room for a few more to be painted in later (proto theos)...

It appears to be a primarily Russian custom, one I like very much. I guess one that you have made once your wife is passed child bearing age though. Either that or you have them made often.

Those are very nice. We do not have one but here is a pic of our family icon corner~_as you can see, we have it pretty much filled up.

The basketball goal and the sleeping baby are not usually there! LOL
