but in this situation what you propose is a bit unrealistic and simplistic. These people made a choice. For them it was the right choice at the time. Now their choice is being tested in fire. Even here on this very public forum. Their pain and fustration is very real, they have to deal with that and everything else that goes with it.

It's easy to say, "oops, I made a mistake...take me back". The real test of faith is whether you stay through the storm and come out the other side with your faith intact.

But you are supposing that their choice is "Orthodox". For me, and 95% of Orthodoxy, it is not. It was, and will continue to be, schismatic.

Are we supposed to support that? And not remind them of their mistake and ask them to repent and return to the Church.

We would be remiss in not doing that. The HEALING they need is IN the Church. Not outside of it.

What healing are you specifically referring to Tom?

Perhaps some healing on the golf course with my long former GOA priest, who likes to dress in goofy golf clothes, slick his hair back, and spend some of his $100,000/ a year salary on beer? :D

If you seriously would like to implore anyone to "return" to your departing church, please start a thread so you can compare our faith with yours, and see first if they are even the same.

Tom:

I know that healing is within the church, heck I'm a die hard Rocorist too. But ultimately, the choice has to be theirs. Ever tell a child not to do something cause he'll get hurt? And, lo and behold he does it anyway? That's the way people learn. Just as the Roac people with God's help will see and learn their way through this.

OOD:

The healing I refer to is the healing of the spirit.

Miriam,

Yes, and I struggle each day to be a little more healed. I am therefore not at all adverse to consider anything that would bring me there, I guess I just don't feel the Spirit dwells in the Roman Catholic church.

Do you really believe that I could be healed by the pope?

I had to giggle...i'm sorry....I'm cradle Orthodox, so I'll refrain on commenting on the pope. I can understand what the ROAC people are going through. I had a real crisi of faith a few years back... caused by a ROCOR bishop who has since gone on to his maker... if not for a few kind hearted priests I probably would not be here today. We all need healing. We all must live with our choices and someday we will have to justify them. In the End it is GOd who will decide if we made a correct choice.
