The version of the Bible that I use the most for research is the KJV Thompson Chain-Reference Bible; I've found this Bible to be invaluable in locating verses which I've forgotten the "addresses" to. For regular reading I normally use the NKJV these days, though sometimes I will check a number of other versions if I'm confused by the language or content. For the "Apocryphal" Old Testament Books, I prefer the Oxford Annotated Bible With Apocrypha (and for the "Apocryphal" books accepted by the Orthodox but not in this version--like Ps. 151--I just use texts from off the internet). For the Psalms, my wife and I typically use The Psalter published by Holy Transfiguration Monastery... more out of necessity (ie. faithfulness to the Septuagint) than because we actually like that translation. In fact, sometimes (e.g., Ps. 103 during Vespers) we just use the KJV rather than the Psalter, as we find the renderings of the latter to be somewhat awkward, and leastwise unfamiliar (Ha! I'm one to talk about awkward writing! :) ).

It's funny you should mention the Thompson Chain Reference Bible, Justin. I have one of those and have had it for nearly thirty years.

I really like my Douay-Rheims, but I probably will eventually acquire one of those Brenton Septuagints (if I don't learn Greek first!).

What about the Orthodox New Testament some have mentioned?

Where can one get one of those?

(I will probably stick with my D-R for regular Bible reading, though.)

Worth every penny!

Nope, but well worth it IMO! It is full of patristics on most every verse which is very good for Internet Apologists like yourself!

I would agree with Nicholas, here. Supposing that you have the money to spare, the patristics, introduction, etc. in itself (even if you don't use it for your normal reading) makes it worth the price.
