Theodora:

I was 46 when I got married. We don't know what God has planned for us, so there is always hope. Everything according to His plan and not ours!

God bless,
Milla

Theodora,
Much of what you wrote above, struck a chord with me. I went through a lot of this kind of thing. Wedding were a sure way of spinning off into a depressive state. And God save us from all who say, "Sooo, when is it your turn?" or the equally famous..."What are you waiting for, stop being so fussy!" I can't describe what THAT used to do to me.

My only advise to you is....Don't settle ... be prudent and aware of how you feel and brutally honest about the reason you want to be with the person. For an Orthodox person this is an important decision and one not to be taken lightly.

Take some time, take a small trip even if by yourself and refresh and re-orientate your spirit and then return to life, you will have a different perspective.

Theodora Elizabeth,

I prayed to St. Ksenia of Petersburg and it's with her intercession that I met my husband. St. Ksenia of Petersburg is a much loved Russian Saint and one of the things she is known for is to intercede for couples, people in search of a spouse or families. After I read her life, she became one of my favorite Saints. Here's an article in English I found about her, it's not very detailed, maybe you can find something else with more stories. The book I have has letters from people that came to pray to her Chapel in St. Petersburg (till this day people go there) and how she helped. Many, many very touching stories of miracles.

St. Ksenia of Petersburg, pray to God for us.

While it is easy to pray for something we desire, we must be careful to avoid "the demands", whether they are conscious or unconscious.

My husband's favorite saying is...Don't jerk on God's robe, He knows what you need and when it is needful. Much as I fight this I realize that my husband is right. It is simply that we are impatient and unable to wait for God to provide.

While I think LIUDMILLA has the right idea in mind I don't think that she stated her idea right. It is in no way wrong to ask God for help. While demand I think is the wrong word it is never wrong to keep asking and praying for what we think is best as long as we always add at the end of our prayers that if what we are praying for is not the best thing for our soul, let God do what He knows is best for us reguardless of we want.

Of course you could just play it really safe and simply pray for God to help guide you along the path of your life.
