Curious: what does "Hou my dop" literally translate to?

Both of the above. "Dophou" means to watch/monitor. "My" is me/my. "Hou" is hold, and "dop" is shell or drink.
Etymologically, "watch" comes from holding a cup for someone to pour drink into. It's a task one must watch carefully. Hence, "hold my beer" and "watch me" are the same phrase.
It's not really a funny joke or anything. I just find it amusing, that to Americans "hold my beer and watch this" is a meme while to us, it's the same thing.

It is, Father, but at least in "hold my beer," "watch this" seems to be implied.
