I'm scared to click on GOARCH teaching doctrine. Is it patristic?
I posted it in heterodox sub for a good reason.
The priest is saying it is practically a metaphor. Interestingly, people in comments are asking if he’s read the St Anthony Monastary Tome on the the ATHs
Puhalo says it’s a metaphor and in the same breath claims it’s from Gnostic origin. So, which one is it you know.
Perhaps I misspoke. The GOARC priest says it’s a metaphor, but he means it in the same way that Protestants believe that the Eucharist is strictly symbolic/metaphorical language in the Gospel of St John chapter 6.
Is that how Puhalo means it as well?
I would agree that the Tollhouses are metaphorical but I’m taking it that it’s rather an analogy since we they’re not literally tollhouses, but the GOARC priest tries to use the strawman of a “literal tollhouse” to argue against the ATH, as one point of contention. It seems like when we speak about the Divine Latter or calling the Theotokos the “Ark” or “Throne” and other metaphorical language doesn’t negate the reality of who she is or other spiritual understandings from the saints.
