Since this is the inquirer's forum, I don't want any polemical discussion here. Yes, last year the Synod in Resistance joined with the GOC, after adopting the GOC ecclesiology that heretics are outside the Church.

No the "obedience" I'm talking about is not total in that sense. In my experience, my confessing priest only expected obedience in certain matters: keeping my prayer rule; keeping the fasts according to his instructions; receiving Communion when he tells me to; and finally particular penan...

I don't agree with you about human strength. The strength to endure long fasts, pray unceasingly and endure torture and death for the faith is not natural to fallen humans. It comes from God. So a strong faith and humility are essential from the beginning. We can't achieve salvation by our own effor...
