Priest Andrew Kencis comments on the MP takeover of Lavrites

Post by Priest Siluan »

June 1 2007: ROCiE/ROCOR-V PRIEST ANDREW KENCIS COMMENTS ON THE MP TAKEOVER OF THE LAURUS SYNOD! Fr Andrew Kencis, a priest of the ROCiE/ROCOR-V Jurisdiction, had this to say about the MP takeover of the Laurus Synod, had this to say about the MP takeover of the Laurus Synod:

------ "I am sure we all are watching now as yet another jurisdiction forms from among the wreckage of what was once our beloved ROCOR. Strong language against those who left in 2001, for the same reasons as the new group being formed, is being released. Statements seemingly carefully crafted and reasonable; Full of bravery and hope are coming out once again! Once again an exclusive siege mentality is taking
form! That is, only we are correct and canonical, the rest are not. Once again we hear from various parts of our church and others the desire to unite all together...

"I think the main issue for getting all of us together is the question is the MP a church or not? It seems that many of our former brothers in Christ still believe that it is--following the Cyprianite formulas. They talk about "not at this time" and such. Well this just doesn't wash. Either it is or it isn't--if it is then just stop whining and get with the Lavrite program and work from within; if it is not then they should have broken away a long time ago for the path and underlying theology of the Lavrites was an extreme fundamental error. Who stays in a ship that is headed on a crash course for a reef until the last moment? We do not believe that the MP is a church.

"Of course opinions change and different people have different levels of tolerance so perhaps if there is a will to be together then some sort of 'Summit Meeting' should be arranged to really see where we all stand in this and other matters, and if ther is a chance of being united. But of course this is more of a dream for who among us has the will to do this?" ------
