There has been more than one instance over the last few decades where the community of Mt. Athos, obedient to the Ecumenists, have made protests against their spritual fathers' heresies. With the exception of Esphigmenou and the desert dwellers (hermits), these protests have proved impotent to say the least. How can one oppose heresy by remaining obedient to an heresiarch? These fathers' protests will be silenced soon enough, and they will capitulate as they always have, while condemning the True Orthodox as schismatics.
It is interesting to note that half of the monastic population on the Holy Mountain are desert dwellers, and the vast majority of them are zealots (ie. non-commemorators). It is the prayers of these holy men, together with those of the heroic confessors of Esphigmenou Monastery, that preserve the Holy Mountain.
Some people prefer cupcakes. I, for one, care less for them...

And here I thought it was the restraint of the authorities. Of course, if they do unload on Esphigmenou, you'll just say that God is letting his flock be tested. So either way God is supposedly in control.

Word has come through that the fathers of the Kellia have petitioned the 20 ruling monasteries to cease commemoration of the Patriarch. They point out that letters to the Patriarch in the past have gone unheeded.
