Greetings in the Lord,This Question is about Canonization of a saint.
do all jurisdictions recognize all saints.for instance St. John Maximovitch isnt in any of the service books of the OCA,or Greek Arch-diocese...and one other question when a blessed reposed individual
is starting to be recognized for canonization, will there be a commitee,
who and how is this done...Im just curious about Blessed Father Seraphim Rose and if jurisdiction has started the way for canonization, because if Im correct his burial and Monastic cell, with St Herman of Alaske Monastery is under the Serbian Orthodox church,Right??
last year one sunny night in Dallas Texas a miracle by Gods Grace happend to me,and I later found out this was indeed a miracle because Fr.Seraphim Rose had Reposed in 1982.. but this very real appearance of Fr Seraphim Rose led me to Orthodoxy,in what I can only understand with my feeble mind as Gods Grace thru him, it was a miracle of god.there just isnt any way of questioning somthing of that caliber........
any info will be greatly apprecited

Dear in Christ Spyridon,
I think I also saw your question on the Fr. Seraphim list which I also belong to.
I'm not sure about the OCA, but the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America does commemorate St. John Maximovitch- see June 18 on their calendar

There is no commitee. In fact, there is no "Canonization process" in the Orthodox Church. The faithful begin by venerating one they consider blessed. The local bishops will then glorify the Blessed one. All Orthodox Christians recognise Saints glorified in local Churches, although the services written for the Saint might only take place locally, and the process is a gradual one. And don't forget that recognising another juristictions Saints means recognising that juristiction as an Orthodox Church which may or may not be in Communion with your own juristiction! - so there are political agendas involved as well! At the moment, no other juristiction will recognise any Saints newly glorified by the "Church of Macedonia", since no one recognises their autocephaly at present and, at least on the "official" level, every other juristiction considers them uncanonical.

I too, encountered Blessed Fr. Seraphim 5 years ago, on the Holy Mountain, in a situation which resembles the old urban myths about meeting a person who helps you in a difficult situation, and only finding out later that they were reposed. I had never heard of him before this. Now, I have a great devotion for him. We have an Icon of him painted by a greek woman in Moscow, as well as some soil from his grave sent to us by a dear American friend.
Many people have reported similar experiences, not only with Blessed Fr. Seraphim, but also with Blessed Matushka Olga of Alaska, St. Raphael of Mytelini, St. John Maximovitch and many others. These experiences, I think, are reminders in this age of disbelief, of the Truth of the Ressurection and our ultimate destiny.
You could inform the Fathers of Platina of your experience, as I did, since they compile the records of miracles worked through his intercession.

I didn't say that they have glorified anyone. What I mean is that if they did glorify someone in this current situation, they would not be recognised.
