Joasia, you're right... But there are exceptions. I know in Holland a ROCIE parish that is located in a former catholic parish that is rented to them... Of course, in France, it would be impossible...

I think in your comment about possibly covering the statues a deeper question arises for me: Is it Orthodox to have statuary? Now I know that Icons and the Theology of Icons is complex and serious, that statues do not really fit this theology per se, but is it un-Orthodox to venerate a statue of Christ or the Theotokos. I suppose it is just the thought of covering up a statue of Christ or the Theotokos that stirs a bad feeling inside me. It just sounds wrong to me.
