All the Wineries in Northern California destroyed.

Post by Maria »

The local news is saying that all the wineries in Northern California have been destroyed.
And they are also saying that this was arson.

This is devastating. How will the Orthodox Churches get their sacramental wine?

Lord have mercy.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

I saw that news too. Really, ALL ?
It seems those fires are concentrated in Napa and Sonoma Counties, and these are where the grapes are grown.
I would like to see a map of which areas have been affected. Has anyone come across anything like that so as to better
grasp the dire emergency ?

Really > arson ? I had not seen any particular cause advanced ; mainly statements that it is difficult to sort things out at this point to tell what did start the fires. This is shocking !! Who would start such fires deliberately ?
The descriptions in the news of the devastation are almost surreal.

There was an article out this weekend saying that the damage is nowhere near as bad as believed.
Out of 47 wineries, only a few suffered any real damage. Most were fine.

Then, too, the grapes had been harvested already by the time of the fires. So only about 10 % of the crop remained in the vineyards.

There may be some smoke damage to the wine, but fortunately no major problems for the facilities and buildings, which are often built in the style of picturesque castles.
