2013 Great Lenten Discussions on Proverbs

Post by Maria »

The Orthodox Church also directs us to read from the Book of Proverbs during Great Lent so that we may learn to be wise.

Please feel free to share your fruitful meditations on these readings as we strive toward repentance and theosis.

During this first week in Great Lent, the readings are from Proverbs 1 to Proverbs 3:34, which cover Wisdom and her words of instruction.

Proverbs 2:10-11* instructs us:

  • For if wisdom comes into your mind,
And the perception in your soul seems to be good.
Then good counsel will guard you,
And holy thinking will keep you.

May we all guard Holy Thinking and seek to keep logismoi (thoughts and temptations) from destroying peace in our souls.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.
