Patriarch Damianos I of Jerusalem

Post by Lenexa »

Christ is Risen!
Can anyone help me? What ever happened to Patriarch Damianos I? I have read that both St.Glicherie and Archbishop Chrysosotomos - not together - visited Patriarch Damianos after the calendar change. I read that when the Patriarch met with St.Glicherie he gave his full support for the Old Calendar movement and gave some Holy Chrism so that they could continue in their mission.
I read that in 1931 he was dethroned for enacting certain reforms, of which I do not know what or why, that were prohibited under the Turkish yoke.
I hope someone can help!

If that is the Patriarch Damianos of Jerusalem I am thinking of, he and his synod condemned the new calendar in 1903.
