"St. Alexis Toth"

This year, March 17th on the New Calendar fell on a Friday. Thus, at the community meal following the Pre-Sanctified Liturgy, we sang "Many Years" to our ProtoDeacon Patrick.

One unfortunate (I think) side effect in the U.S. is that people easily associate March 17th with St. Patrick, and forget about St. Alexis (also remembered on March 17th).

"St. Alexis Toth" is not commemorated as a saint outside of the "OCA" and maybe Johnstown.

So sorry, thought you meant Alexis Toth. Nice man, not a saint (yet).

in the Rocor calendar for all its parishes St.Alexis is before St.Patrick
But this reminds me of why we have The three Heirarchs feast day aside from there individual one, many were being accused of being Basilians(St.Basil), or Gregorians(St.Gregory),or Chrysostymians(John Chrysostom) etc...............there is a whole new world we could learn from Others Patron Saints, that is why on your own names day, dont wait to be sung Many years, find a good and small to the point life of your saint and a copy(on paper) of Your Patron Saints icon and put it together and make some copies, kinda like a flyer, only with the highest respect and love, and when you go to Church or House Chapel give it to your friends and invite them into your relationship with your Saint that has protected you, with your guardian angel , the Theotokos, and Our Saviour IC XC......your Patron Saint will smile upon you

Beloveds,
Yesterday was his day, and I hope everyone commemorated it -- not with green beer or a float with leprechauns on it, but with prayers for the salvation of Ireland, as he would have wanted. And yesterday was the day he'd have recognized as March 17.

As God through Holy Patrick drove the Druidical snakes out of Ireland, so may he use his faithful Orthodox Christian descendants to deal with the new snakes and briars in that land of saints and scholars, now sunk in schism and heresy.
In Christ,
Gleb
