GOC under Chrysostomus II

Post by Jean-Serge »

Hello,

How are you?

I am looking for information about the GOC under Chrysostomus II. I have already found some sites in the web but they are uncomplete.

I would like to know the following thing.

1° what is the policy of the GOC as regards communion? Frequent communion? Unfrequent communion? Is it necessary to confess the day before you commune in the GOC?

2° Does the GOC have missions in Western union? Could anyone give me the contact?

3° how does the GOC consider itself? As a Greek church only? Does it think it has a missionary task on the Western World?

4° how many parishes does it have in Greece, and out of Greece?

You can answer privately

Priidite, poklonimsja i pripadem ko Hristu.

Here is the public email address of one of their English-speaking bishops, Bishop Photios, who I believe is over the western European parishes. goc@otenet.gr

Here is my weak attempt and answering your questions.

1° From my experience, every 40 days is recommended and confession before communing.

2° Do you mean Western EU? I know they have a parish in the UK for sure. Vladimir Moss is the Reader of that parish,

3° In America they have very ethnic parishes and convert parishes and those with a mix of each.

4° I am not sure of their number in Europe.

From the links section of the portal page at http://euphrosynoscafe.com/portal/ I find 2 offical sites, one for the synod, one for the America Metropolis.

GOC: Genuine Christians of Greece

1: Frequent communion is encouraged, infrequent communion is the unfortunate reality. Yes you must confess prior to communing.
2: We had a lot of missions in France in the 1980's but they left us and went to Auxentios and then the Lamians. We do have a parish in Germany now though.
3: No it does not consider itself a Greek Church. English (and other language) usages and missionary work is increasing but it is a hard road to travel.
4: 200+ in Greece, maybe twenty abroad.
