there are basically four ingredients in pumpkin pie filling:

Sugar
Pumpkin
EGGS
EVAPORATED MILK

so you can't use pumpkin pie filliing and stil be in the context of the fast.

For the Apostles' Fast -- salmon and peas pasta salad

Post by Matushka Anna »

1 lb. sturdy pasta (elbow noodles or shells are best)
1 can canned salmon, cheap is good
1 package frozen peas
1 bottle fasting salad dressing, Italian is best
fresh dill
fresh green onion
dill pickles (optional)

Put on water to boil for the pasta.
While the water is boiling, open and drain the canned salmon.
According to your personal level of squeamishness, you can skin it or not, and you can remove, smoosh, or eat the bones. They are a good source of calcium if you mash them firmly enough. Mash up the drained salmon.

Cook pasta according to directions. Drain.
Put the pasta in a bowl large enough to hold everything even when stirred.
Into the hot but drained pasta, throw in:
the frozen peas, still frozen (but not for long)
the smooshed salmon
chopped dill
chopped green onion
chopped dill pickles (optional)
fasting salad dressing to taste.

Store in a covered bowl in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Enjoy!
Nice for the Fourth of July.
