Το μεγαλείο του Αθωνα σε… μινιατούρες

Μια πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα έκθεση εγκαινιάστηκε σήμερα στην Θεσσαλονίκη. Πρόκειται για την παρουσίαση χειροποίητων μοντέλων των 20 Ιερών Μονών του Αγίου Όρους τις οποίες κατασκεύασε με τη χρήση του ειδικού ξύλου μπάλσα, ο Μιχάλης Βασιλόπουλος.

Το μπάλσα (ochroma pyramidale) είναι το πιο ελαφρύ ξύλο στον κόσμο. Προέρχεται από ένα φυλλοβόλο δένδρο που φύεται στα τροπικά δάση του Αμαζονίου, στα βόρεια του Νότιου Μεξικού. Είναι ευλύγιστο, κατατάσσεται στα σκληρά ξύλα και με μία έννοια συμβολίζει μια ισορροπία φυσικών ιδιοτήτων, η οποία αξιοποιείται για τις ανθρώπινες ανάγκες. Οι κάτοικοι της Νότιας Αμερικής το χρησιμοποιούσαν για να φτιάχνουν σχεδίες. Στη διάρκεια του Β” Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου οι Βρετανοί κατασκεύασαν απ” αυτό το de Havilland Mosquito, ένα ελαφρύ και γρήγορο ανιχνευτικό αεροπλάνο, ενώ οι αρχιτέκτονες το χρησιμοποιούν ακόμη για να κατασκευάζουν μακέτες.

Η έκθεση πραγματοποιείται με την ευκαιρία της συμπλήρωσης των 100 χρόνων από την ενσωμάτωση του Αγίου Όρους στην Ελληνική Πολιτεία και έχει τεθεί υπό την αιγίδα του Αρχιεπισκόπου κ. Ιερωνύμου.

Στα εγκαίνια της έκθεσης που θα είναι ανοικτή στο κοινό μέχρι την 31η Ιανουαρίου 2016 παρέστησαν οι πρωτοσύγκελλοι Αθηνών και Θεσσαλονίκης και πλήθος κόσμου.

Τα εκθέματα βρίσκονται στο Μέγαρο Μουσικής Θεσσαλονίκης.
