Ice Age Nears with Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Sinkholes

For the first time in more than 500 years, Peru's El Misti volcano is showing signs of potentially eruptive activity. ...

Gas emissions and magmatic activity have been recorded, Peru This Week reports, but officials note the activity does not necessarily pose an immediate danger of eruption.

Officials warned people living nearby to refrain from building property too close to the volcano and to be prepared for evacuations, Wired reports.

Here is a huge sinkhole which recently developed in Oregon.

From the air, two huge sinkholes developed one on each side of the 101, which is now closed.

A road in Oregon has crumbled away after a huge sinkhole opened up on the other side of the road of where a sinkhole appeared last month, according to police.

The initial sinkhole happened in December in the parking lot of the Fireside Diner in Harbor, Oregon, after torrential rain.

HARBOR, Ore. — Massive sinkholes in Harbor, Oregon have shut down a portion of US 101.

A highway detour is in place and traffic is moving smoothly with travelers experiencing five to ten minute delays, according to ODOT.

ODOT said it hopes to have one lane of Highway 101 open by Saturday. As for all north bound and south bound lanes, the agency said that may not happen until around March 19th.

Another sign that a Mini Ice Age is approaching: Polar Stratospheric Clouds (PSCs or nacreous clouds) are visible as far south as the UK or in even lower latitudes.

These nacreous clouds form at -85 degrees C in the lower stratosphere when the sun shines through ice particles. In other words, we must have very cold temperatures to see these nacreous clouds. This is not global warming by any means.

These fantasticaly-colored clouds are floating more than 80,000 feet above Earth's surface. Normally, the thin air up there is crystal clear. Not this week. Water molecules are crystalizing in the lower stratosphere and the resulting ice crystals are assembling into polar stratospheric clouds (PSCs). ...

Because these clouds require extreme cold, they are most often seen around the Arctic Circle. In recent days, however, they have been spotted as far south as the UK. Indeed, a "stratospheric cloud event" appears to be underway. Monitor the gallery for more sightings:
