Help the Orthodox Churches in China Translate Books!

Post by 尼古拉前执事 »

For every $5 you donate...
...You make it possible for preliminary translation into Chinese of the Lives of the Saints from one day's reading of the Prologue from Ohrid. You can even sponsor a specific day for the good health or in memory of each member of your family, godfamily, or friends on their name's day, birthday, churching, baptism or chrismation day, anniversary day for wedding or repose, or any other day with special meaning, which will be noted on the bottom of each entry of the prologue, and those reading the daily devotion for that day can pray for your loved ones on the anniversary of the specified occassion. Suggested minimum sponsorship is $15 for preliminary translation of a whole page of one day's reading, including the Hymn of Praise, Reflection, Contemplation and Homily. Just email Mitrophan@Orthodox.cn for availability of a requested day.

Please note that preliminary translation in traditional Chinese of the Lives of Saints section from January to May has been completed by a Hong Kong translator. That text has been completely revised in Simplified Chinese, and also converted back into Traditional Chinese by a Chinese Orthodox residing in Romania. In additional the full entries with all sections from January to early June has just been completed. Your donation will be eligible to be matched by a possible grant renewal with the Order of St Ignatius in the Fall.

All donations will be acknowledged. You may also request a U.S tax-deductible receipt if you contribute by check payable to Chinese Translation Project / St. Mary's Church and mail to:

Used English liturgical books needed for China

Post by 尼古拉前执事 »

The Orthodox Fellowship of All Saints of China is looking to collect used English liturgical books to send to mainland China to assist the local Chinese Orthodox who can read English to follow along during reader services, and also to use as additional references to cross-check while making a modern Chinese translation of liturgical texts, and at the moment for Great Vespers service. If you or your parish library have a spare English liturgical book to donate, please contact Mitrophan Chin at StMitrophan@Yahoo.com or 857-829-1569 with a list of what you have. All donations are tax-deductible in the USA.

Specifically they are in need of English translation of the following:

* Lenten Triodion
* Festal Menaion
* Octoechos
* Pentecostarion
* Horologion
(various editions including usage according to the Greek, Slavonic, and the Old Rite)

Thanks again for all those who can help in this missionary endeavor.
