The anathemas are read during Vespers. I'm sorry that I'm so late in joining the conversation. Anyway, anywhere I've served on the Sunday of Orthodoxy the anathemas have been read after the hours or Divine Liturgy itself. It seems that there may be a little wiggle room in this tradition, as it were...

Liefern, I think a lot of us started with looking to those who follow the Julian calendar and went from there. It is a starting point, as you noted. Then you start weeding them out on other issues like ecumenism, as Fr Enoch mentioned. Not to mention that heaven is full of people who used the Julian...
