The monastery of St Pateleimons on Mt Athos was stormed by Russian soldiers with Archbishop Nikon of Vologda. The Name-Worshipping monks were beaten with batons and imprisoned for not changing their heretical beliefs. Why was such extreme action taken by the archbishop?
